Track Layout History
2006 - Originally Planned Railroad Completed
  • Six years and 12,000 feet of track later, the originally planned railroad surpasses its 2001 plan by a great deal with the connection made at Promontory on a snowy February afternoon. The passing sidings at Deerhead and Whitwell were soon also completed allowing for operation over the new branch line, once known as the "low-line or return route"
  • The balance of railroad work for the year included expanding the yard by 50%, completing two large industrial switching areas, a new wye at Eagle Point and a new passing siding on the Fredonia branch
  • Card-order train operation also began increasing the need for new scale railroad structures. The first part of a new mountain branch line began late in the year reaching Monteagle Brewery siding
